Los Angeles, May 3 (NationPress) Actor Jason Isaacs, known for his role as Lucius Malfoy, has opened up about the most “nerve-racking” aspect of his experience in the Harry Potter films.
During a Broadway talkback session following a performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Isaacs shared the stage with other actors from the show: Aaron Bartz, who portrayed Draco Malfoy; Erik Christopher Peterson, who played Scorpius; and Matthew James Thomas, who took on the role of Harry.
When asked about the most intimidating part of joining the Harry Potter franchise, the 61-year-old actor remarked, “The most nerve-racking is that all of the actors in the films were my heroes. They’re people I queued up in the rain to watch on stage, mostly.”
Isaacs made his entry into the franchise with the 2002 film Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, where he played the father of Draco Malfoy, a character portrayed by Tom Felton.
He reprised his role in five additional films, surrounded by a cast of remarkable talent.
“My very first proper day was with the late great Richard Harris, who played Dumbledore in the initial two films,” Isaacs recalled, revealing it wasn’t their first encounter.
“I attended drama school with his son, Jared Harris. The days when Richard Harris graced our drama school were the days you wore four pairs of underpants,” he humorously added.
Isaacs expressed his admiration while on set, stating, “To be standing opposite (Harris) was incredible.”
As the series progressed, Isaacs had the opportunity to collaborate with more of the industry's finest.
“Fast forward many years later, during the courtyard scene with everyone, the massive battle at the end, I looked around and saw Oscar winners everywhere,” said the Golden Globe nominee. “The thrill never wore off.”
Notable Oscar winners from the Harry Potter series include Emma Thompson, Gary Oldman, Jim Broadbent, Julie Christie, Kenneth Branagh, and the late Maggie Smith.
Isaacs concluded, “Every day when you go to work on a film set, you receive a call sheet that lists everyone’s name and the scenes scheduled for that day. Even at the end of it, I still couldn’t believe my name was on that list alongside those actors because they remain my acting heroes.”
While the Harry Potter films are behind him, Isaacs maintains a bond with his fictional son, Felton.
