Jay Bhattacharya Expresses Discontent Over Dua Lipa's 'Levitating X Woh Ladki Mashup'

Mumbai, Dec 1 (NationPress) Jay Bhattacharya, son of renowned singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, recently expressed his dismay on social media concerning Dua Lipa's 'Levitating X Woh Ladki Mashup.'

During her live performance in Mumbai on Saturday, the audience erupted in excitement when she delivered a mashup of her popular track Levitating and the iconic song “Woh Ladki Jo” from the film Baadshah, originally performed by Abhijeet Bhattacharya. However, Jay criticized this blend for not recognizing his father's significant role in the classic.

In a post on his Instagram story, Jay articulated his frustration, noting the absence of his father’s acknowledgment.

“The issue is that no one discusses it. What has happened to - Woh Ladki Jo - Abhijeet? Sadly, we exist in a country where not one news outlet or Instagram page has credited the voices and artists behind this song. Why does it always revolve around actors in our nation? I’m certain when @dualipa heard this track, she must have listened to it without recognizing the talent behind it, and yes, it is not SRK,” he stated.

He further added, “It is @abhijeetbhattacharya and @anumalikmusic. I apologize, but this song is titled Woh Ladki Jo - Abhijeet wherever you search for it. Yet somehow, the media in this country never allows a singer to receive their due credit, and then people question me about why I don't attempt to sing in Bollywood.”

In one of his posts, he remarked, “This song is a hit and widely appreciated because of legends like Abhijeet and Anu Malik!”

Numerous videos from the concert have emerged online, with a notable highlight being Dua Lipa's performance of a fan-created mashup of her hit Levitating and Woh Ladki Jo.

The event drew a crowd of prominent personalities, including Radhika Merchant, Anand Piramal, Ranvir Shorey, and Namrata Shirodkar, among others. This marked Dua's second concert in India, taking place four years after her initial performance at the OnePlus Music Festival in 2019.
