Los Angeles, Jan 29 (NationPress) Actress-singer Jennifer Lopez has revealed that she has overlooked many opportunities in her career as she discussed the projects she did not succeed in auditioning for.
She mentioned that there were certain roles she had aspired to secure that ultimately didn't materialize.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter regarding her latest musical 'Kiss of the Spiderwoman', she reminisced: "I recall auditioning for 'Evita', I remember trying out for 'Chicago' and for 'Nine' — I got quite close with 'Nine'.
"There were many things that I always wished to accomplish, but it simply wasn't the right moment. However, this is the right opportunity.”
Madonna, the Queen of Pop, was ultimately cast in the lead role of 'Evita' in 1996, while the Academy Award-winning 'Chicago' featured Renée Zellweger and Catherine Zeta-Jones in 2002, according to femalefirst.co.uk.
'Nine' transitioned from stage to film in 2009, starring Marion Cotillard, Penélope Cruz, and Nicole Kidman as the female leads alongside Daniel Day-Lewis.
The 'On The Floor' hitmaker expressed that her passion for the musical genre was what initially drew her into show business, and she had expected to reach “The Great White Way,” but instead, Hollywood beckoned.
She stated: "I began with a love for musicals. That’s what inspired me to become a singer, actor, and dancer; watching musicals with my mom during my childhood — along with my two sisters. We adored them and would sing around the house.”
“I genuinely believed I would head to Broadway, as I started as a dancer and a singer, touring in Europe and Japan. I thought, great, the next step would be Broadway. Then I was sent to Hollywood, and the rest is somewhat history, with my career taking a different direction."
