Los Angeles, March 24 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Jennifer Coolidge has revealed that her Emmy-winning performance in the OTT series 'The White Lotus' has not only revitalized her career but also enhanced her dating experiences at the age of 63.
The actress told 'The Sunday Times', "Even though I portray a total weirdo in 'White Lotus', attractive men approach me. This is a significant improvement from 'American Pie' because viewers were genuinely upset about Tanya falling off a boat. These guys appreciate you more because they sense that you’ve been through a lot. That series really elevated my profile."
Having gained new heights of fame after years in Hollywood, she candidly discussed the lengthy career lull between her early 2000s triumphs and Mike White casting her in HBO's acclaimed series, according to 'Variety'.
From 2006 until 'The White Lotus' in 2021, Coolidge faced a period of being typecast and overlooked.
"I took on very strange roles, and I had no direction. I didn’t know how to navigate the industry," she remarked.
According to 'Variety', the typecasting issue continued as casting directors only envisioned her as Stifler’s Mom from 'American Pie'.
"I ended up playing a lot of high-strung wealthy women; people thought, 'Oh, that’s her niche,'" she noted.
Her career revival was due to her longtime friend White, the creator of 'The White Lotus', who developed the character of Tanya McQuoid after sharing a tent with Coolidge during a vacation in Africa where she acted "eccentrically".
"Do I believe any other director would have selected me for Tanya? Probably not," Coolidge reflected during the discussion.
Despite her recent achievements, including an Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild awards, the actress admitted to ongoing challenges with self-esteem.
Even while promoting the forthcoming thriller 'Riff Raff' alongside Bill Murray and Pete Davidson, Coolidge expressed disbelief at being cast with such prominent figures.
