Los Angeles, Aug 20 (NationPress) Singer Joe Jonas discussed the 2008 hit “When You Look Me In The Eyes” and explained why this song will be a permanent feature in the band's performances.
During an episode of Songs & Stories with Kelly Clarkson, the Jonas brothers—Nick, Joe, and Kevin—reflected on their most impactful tracks including “Year 3000,” “When You Look Me in the Eyes,” “Little Bird,” and “Love Me to Heaven.”
Joe, now 36, reminisced about the process of creating “When You Look Me in the Eyes” from their self-titled second album in their hometown of New Jersey.
“It’s a song we crafted with our dad many years ago,” he shared.
“I recall recording it in a basement of an office building in New Jersey, and we had to tread softly in the hallways.”
The host remarked that the experience sounded “incredibly inspiring,” to which Nick, 32, humorously added that the studio “definitely wasn’t sanctioned,” as reported by people.com.
Even after all these years, Joe articulated that the track retains significant meaning for the brothers and will remain a staple in their setlist for years.
“Creating this song with our dad was special, and years later, we still perform it while fans sing along. Honestly, it’s one of the earlier songs that reflects young love and our journey of self-discovery. This is a song we’ll play forever,” he said.
“It’s definitely one of our favorites,” he concluded, before the band delivered a live rendition of the song.
At the recent kick-off of their JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown Tour at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, their father Kevin Jonas Sr., mother Denise Jonas, and younger brother Franklin Jonas joined them onstage to perform “When You Look Me in the Eyes.”
Later in the song, they were also accompanied by Kevin’s wife Danielle Jonas and their two daughters Alena, 11, and Valentina, 8, who sat with Kevin Sr. at the piano. Before the song concluded, the eldest Jonas passionately sang the chorus he helped create years earlier.
