Los Angeles, Aug 20 (NationPress) Singer Joe Jonas discussed the iconic 2008 track “When You Look Me In The Eyes” and explained why it will remain a staple for the band indefinitely.
During an appearance on Songs & Stories with Kelly Clarkson, the Jonas brothers—Nick, Joe, and Kevin—reflected on some of their most significant songs including “Year 3000,” “When You Look Me in the Eyes,” “Little Bird,” and “Love Me to Heaven.”
At 36, Joe reminisced about the creation of “When You Look Me in the Eyes”, which was part of their self-titled second album, recorded in their hometown of New Jersey.
“It’s a song we created with our dad many years ago,” he recalled.
“I remember recording it quietly in a basement office building in New Jersey, tiptoeing through the hallways.”
Clarkson humorously mentioned how inspiring that sounded, to which Nick, 32, added that the studio “certainly wasn’t sanctioned,” according to reports from people.com.
Despite the passage of time, Joe expressed that the song continues to hold deep meaning for the brothers, ensuring its place in their setlist for many years ahead.
“Being able to create this song with our dad and still perform it to fans who sing along is truly special. It reflects young love, our journey of self-discovery, and it’s a song we’ll play forever,” he stated.
“It’s one of our favorites,” he concluded, just before the group performed a rendition of the song.
At the recent opening night of their JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown Tour at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, their dad Kevin Jonas Sr., mother Denise Jonas, and younger brother Franklin Jonas joined them onstage for a heartfelt rendition of “When You Look Me in the Eyes.”
Later in the performance, they were also joined by Kevin’s wife Danielle Jonas and their daughters Alena, 11, and Valentina, 8, who sat with Kevin Sr. at the piano. Before the song concluded, the eldest Jonas sang the chorus he co-wrote years ago.
