English actor Jude Law is set to headline a new action thriller centred on a getaway driver, with the script penned by Zach Baylin — the Oscar-nominated writer behind 'King Richard', co-creator of the miniseries 'Black Rabbit', and co-writer of Justin Kurzel's 'The Order'. The project marks a notable genre shift for Law and a significant scale-up for his production company.

How the Project Came Together

The film was unveiled at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival by Ben Jackson and Katie Sinclair of Riff Raff Entertainment, Law's own production outfit. Jackson described the premise as a story about 'a getaway driver who wants to get from A to B to C, and there's a lot of things in his way.' The idea reportedly grew organically out of the car-chase sequences in 'The Order', during which Law discovered an appetite for high-octane action.

'It came out of 'The Order', because we had car chases in that as well, and Jude was having a lot of fun doing that, and then we brainstormed an idea, and Zach has now written a really great script,' Jackson said.

What Makes This Film Stand Out

Sinclair emphasised that casting Law in the lead role distinguishes the project from others in a crowded genre. 'I think it's really exciting because Jude hasn't really done action like that before. I think it's a real example of his range as an actor, but also for us as a company,' she said. She added that the production is 'always looking for the best in class, most distinctive version of each genre,' and that having Law star in it 'sets it apart from other movies in the genre.'

Despite its action credentials, the film is described as remaining 'very character driven and anchored' — a balance that Riff Raff Entertainment is positioning as its creative signature as it moves into larger-scale productions.

Baylin's Rising Profile

Zach Baylin earned an Academy Award nomination for his screenplay for 'King Richard' (2021), the biographical drama about the father of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams. He has since co-created the OTT miniseries 'Black Rabbit' and collaborated with director Justin Kurzel on 'The Order'. Separately, Baylin is also developing a new television series produced by Riff Raff Entertainment, underscoring the deepening creative partnership between the writer and Law's company.

Law's Recent Work and What Comes Next

Law most recently portrayed Russian President Vladimir Putin in 'The Wizard of the Kremlin', a political thriller directed by Olivier Assayas that premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival. The getaway driver project represents a sharp tonal departure — from political intrigue to kinetic genre filmmaking. No production timeline or distributor has been announced yet, but the Karlovy Vary reveal signals the film is actively in development.
