She specifically commended Deepika's rendition of ‘Ghoomar’ and Alia’s compelling performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’.

Reflecting on the current generation of actresses, Kalpana remarked, “Today's women in the industry face immense challenges. We experienced our share too, but now, I witness the relentless efforts they put in.”

She acknowledged that while the dedication is evident, modern actresses also benefit from increased investments by producers. Kalpana noted, “It’s clear to me that the more effort put in, the more the producer is willing to spend. I appreciate the meticulous details in today’s productions. The aesthetic appeal and fashion are remarkable. Times have certainly evolved.”

Praising the talent of contemporary performers, she expressed, “Some of these actresses dance with such grace and precision. I truly admire them. Watching them brings me joy. They embody effortless beauty.”

Kalpana specifically highlighted Bollywood's leading stars, stating, “Deepika’s performance in ‘Ghoomar’ was exceptional. Alia’s work in Sanjay Saab’s film was equally impressive. These are formidable tasks.” She emphasized that achieving success does not negate the hard work behind it. “It’s easy to sit back and assume they have it all, but performing at that level requires immense dedication. I have learned to respect their craft.”

For those unfamiliar, Kalpana Iyer rose to fame in her 70s with the classic song ‘Ramba Ho Ho Ho’ from the 1981 film Armaan, which remains a beloved dance hit.

This song recently gained renewed attention when it was featured in Ranveer Singh's blockbuster Dhurandhar.

In addition to her dance performances, Kalpana appeared in numerous films during the 1980s and 1990s, notably portraying Sangeeta in the blockbuster Hum Saath Saath Hain, where she played one of the close friends of Reema Lagoo’s character, attempting to disrupt family unity.
