Kangana Ranaut has opened up about the vibrant atmosphere on the set of her upcoming drama 'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata', describing it as a space filled with spirited conversations and genuine camaraderie among an almost entirely female cast. The actress said the shoot was marked by what she called complete 'masti' — a warmth that extended well beyond the camera.

Candid Conversations on Set

Speaking about the on-set dynamic, Ranaut revealed that personal stories and wide-ranging discussions were a regular feature between takes. Topics ranged from marriage and love stories to children and relationships. She recalled a memorable moment involving co-actor Smita Tambe, who once told her, 'I have to tell you a story, but it will take 45 minutes.'

Ranaut added with a laugh that she would think every day, 'Do I have 45 minutes today?' She said she asked Tambe if the story could be condensed, but Tambe insisted it could not — explaining that 'the story has arc of 45 minutes.'

A Cast of Opinionated, Curious Women

Ranaut described her co-stars as intellectually engaged and deeply opinionated. 'We have a wide range of subjects to talk about, especially because they are all opinionated woman, very mentally stimulated. They are also very inquisitive and curious. From politics, to art, to cooking, to children, to husbands, to love affairs, we can talk about it all,' she said.

The cast includes Girija Oak, Smita Tambe, Amrutha Namdev, Esha Dey, Priya Berde, Asha Shelar, Suhita Thatte, Rasika Aghase, alongside Aditya Mishra and Zahid Khan.

Based on the recently released trailer, Ranaut plays a dedicated staff nurse who is routinely underestimated — dismissed at home and at times by her own patients. The film's pivotal sequence is set during the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, in which her character saves multiple lives through presence of mind, moral clarity, and sheer grit.

Reflecting on the film's central theme, Ranaut said, 'So many of us make the mistake of underestimating the power of ordinary people capable of extraordinary courage. The trailer touches upon a truth that while medical training can be taught, bravery cannot. The will to stand your ground in the face of fear, the instinct to serve humanity, and the grit to honour the oath nurses take… all of that comes from within. It comes from a belief that what you do matters, even if no one is watching, even if no one applauds.'

'Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata' is expected to release in theatres on 12 June. The film arrives as a tribute to the unsung heroism of frontline healthcare workers, anchored by a rare all-women ensemble and a story rooted in one of modern India's most traumatic events.
