Kangana Ranaut Addresses Scene Cuts in Her Film 'Emergency'

Mumbai, Jan 7 (NationPress) Actress Kangana Ranaut, who is gearing up for the release of her new film ‘Emergency’, has commented on the Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) directive to cut certain segments from the movie.

The actress, in a conversation with IANS, indicated that as the film's director, she would have preferred to present it in its original form. Nevertheless, she respects the CBFC's decision.

Kangana remarked to IANS, “I would have loved for the complete version to be released. However, the cuts do not concern me, as the film was not intended to disparage anyone. It's not like that. It’s perfectly fine. Some historical episodes have been completely omitted. The fact that these changes do not alter my film significantly is a testament to its core strength.”

She went on to assert, “The essence of the story remains intact. The film's message, which revolves around patriotism, is still very much preserved, so I don’t believe it has compromised the overarching narrative. But there must have been a rationale behind those scenes being shot initially.”

This film is set against the backdrop of the Emergency imposed in the 1970s by the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The movie promises a compelling examination of one of the most discussed periods in Indian democracy.

Written, directed, and headlined by Kangana Ranaut, ‘Emergency’ marks her second directorial venture following ‘Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi’.

The film boasts a remarkable cast, including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik. Each actor plays a crucial role in depicting the intricate political and personal dynamics of that era.

Produced by Zee Studios, Manikarnika Films, and Renu Pitti, ‘Emergency’ features music by Sanchit Balhara and G.V. Prakash Kumar, with dialogues and screenplay crafted by Ritesh Shah. The film is slated for release on January 17.
