Kareena Expresses Gratitude to PM Modi for Honoring Raj Kapoor's Legacy

Mumbai, Dec 11 (NationPress) The renowned Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor Khan has conveyed her heartfelt thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for an unforgettable afternoon, stating that the iconic leader's warmth, attention, and support in celebrating the legacy of the late Raj Kapoor holds immense significance for her.

Kareena took to Instagram to share a series of photos featuring the Kapoor family alongside the Prime Minister. In one photo, the esteemed leader presented a signed note for her children Taimur and Jeh. Additional images showed him engaging in conversation with Saif, Ranbir, Neetu, Alia, and Kareena.

In her post, she wrote: “We are incredibly honored and grateful to have been invited by the esteemed Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, to celebrate the remarkable life and legacy of our grandfather, the legendary Raj Kapoor.”

“Thank you, Shri Modi ji, for such a memorable afternoon. Your warmth, attention, and support in acknowledging this milestone are profoundly meaningful to us. As we commemorate 100 glorious years of Dadaji’s artistry, vision, and contributions to Indian cinema, we pay tribute to the everlasting influence of his legacy, which continues to inspire us and future generations.”

Kareena further elaborated on the upcoming film festival dedicated to celebrating 100 years of Raj Kapoor.

“We are excited to present his legendary films and reflect on the significant impact he had on Indian cinema with the ‘Raj Kapoor 100 Film Festival’. Taking place from December 13-15, 2024 | 10 films | 40 cities | 135 cinemas. #100YearsOfRajKapoor.”

Veteran actress Neetu Kapoor also shared the same images and the post about PM Modi.

The festival will showcase Raj Kapoor’s most acclaimed works, spanning nearly four decades, including Aag (1948), Barsaat (1949), Awaara (1951), Shree 420 (1955), Jagte Raho (1956), Jis Desh Mein Ganga Behti Hai (1960), Sangam (1964), Mera Naam Joker (1970), Bobby (1973), and Ram Teri Ganga Maili (1985). This event will be hosted across 40 cities and 135 cinemas in India from December 13 to December 15 at PVR-Inox and Cinepolis theaters.

Tickets for the films will be available at a nominal price of just Rs 100 in all participating cinemas.

Raj Kapoor is celebrated as one of the most influential filmmakers in India, leaving a lasting legacy on global cinema. Often referred to as “The Greatest Showman,” he was born to the legendary actor Prithviraj Kapoor.

His films explored the essence of post-Partition India, the aspirations of the common man, and the divide between rural and urban life. With timeless classics like Awaara (1951), Shree 420 (1955), Sangam (1964), and Mera Naam Joker (1970), Raj Kapoor’s cinema became synonymous with emotion, innovation, and humanism.

Raj Kapoor has been honored with prestigious awards such as the Padma Bhushan (1971) and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award (1988).
