Ranbir Kapoor Reveals How the Kapoor Family Strategized on WhatsApp for Meeting PM Modi

Mumbai, Dec 11 (NationPress) The Kapoor family recently had the privilege of meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the capital city.

In preparation for this important meeting, the family engaged in discussions through their WhatsApp group to determine the best way to address the Prime Minister.

Bollywood icon Ranbir Kapoor mentioned to PM Modi, “Last week, on our WhatsApp family group, we discussed how to refer to you as Prime Minister, Prime Minister sir. Reema aunty called me daily asking if she could say this, or say that.”

PM Modi reassured them that they could address him however they preferred, encouraging them to treat him as a member of their family. Reema Jain, daughter of Raj Kapoor, addressed PM Modi with, “Respected Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi,” to which the PM humorously replied, “Cut,” bringing laughter to the room.

Reema continued, “In such a special moment, you have brought everyone together to commemorate Raj Kapoor's 100th birthday. We are grateful. I recall some lines from Papa's film: 'I will not live, you will not live, but there will be memories.' You have shown immense love and respect for modern India. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has honored the Kapoor family greatly, and it is a privilege to welcome you. The centenary of Raj Kapoor marks a golden era for India's film industry.”

During their conversation, PM Modi shared insights about Raj Kapoor and his visionary contributions, noting how he positioned India as a ‘soft power’ even before the term was coined, captivating audiences worldwide with his storytelling.

He remarked, “In 1947, we had ‘Neel Kamal’, and as we advance toward 2047, it symbolizes our nation’s vast contributions. Today, discussions about soft power are prevalent in diplomatic circles.

Although the term ‘soft power’ was not in use back then, Raj Kapoor had already laid the foundation for India's influence in this area globally.” December 14, 2024, will mark the centenary of Raj Kapoor, who is celebrated as one of India's cinematic giants. Born in Peshawar (now in Pakistan), he was the eldest son of actor Prithviraj Kapoor.

Raj Kapoor starred in and produced numerous films, earning multiple accolades, including three National Film Awards.
