Mumbai, Oct 27 (NationPress) Actress Kashika Kapoor shared the pivotal moment that fueled her love for acting. In a candid interview with IANS, she disclosed that Katrina Kaif’s unforgettable performance in “Sheila Ki Jawani” was the spark that propelled her towards a film career.
Reflecting on her journey, the budding actress recounted how her father was initially skeptical about her entering the industry, while her mother championed her aspirations — a pivotal support that eventually led both parents to fully embrace her dreams. When asked what lured her to Bollywood and how her journey initiated, Kashika reminisced, “I think it was always my aspiration to be an actress. I started participating in school dramatics in the fifth grade. Being the opening act in school productions made everyone proud of me — their encouragement made me realize that perhaps there was a talent in me worth pursuing. That’s truly how it all began.”
“Katrina Kaif’s “Sheila Ki Jawani” inspired me. I watched her performance and thought, I aspire to do this. I want to be there. However, my father was entirely against it; he didn’t have a favorable view of the industry at that time. Thankfully, my mother was incredibly supportive. My dad believed it was merely a fleeting interest — but it wasn't. Eventually, both of my parents turned supportive, and I’m incredibly thankful for that. That’s how my dream began to materialize,” she added.
Discussing her initial significant opportunity, Kashika revealed, “It was quite a surprise! We were filming for Ferns and Petals at home, and the director who visited that day mentioned he usually avoids such projects, but something compelled him to come that day. He expressed, “I’m glad I came because I’ve found my Geeta.”
“He shared the storyline with me and stated, “I want you for this role.” I was immensely grateful because it was a compelling narrative centered on Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao. That’s destiny and hard work at play — the director needed to be there for that specific shoot, see me, and determine that I was his Geeta. I even auditioned for it in Telugu!”
Kashika Kapoor is celebrated for her contributions to Bollywood, Telugu cinema, and a multitude of music videos. She made her Bollywood debut with the socially relevant drama “Aayushmati Geeta Matric Pass” and subsequently ventured into Telugu cinema with “LYF: Love Your Father.” Over the years, she has also featured in numerous popular music videos.
