Kavita Krishnamurthy Reveals the Story Behind Her 'Roop Tera Mastana' Recording
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 20 (NationPress) In a recent episode of the singing competition show "Indian Idol", vocalist Kavita Krishnamurthy recounted an intriguing, lesser-known anecdote about her rendition of the beloved song "Roop Tera Mastana".
One of the judges, singer Shreya Ghoshal, playfully shared a fascinating trivia, stating, “I have a little trivia to share. Kavita ji recorded a version of ‘Roop Tera Mastana’ for the film Alaap. When she revealed this to us, I said that everyone should know about it.”
Shreya then encouraged Kavita to narrate the story herself, describing it as a "truly delightful moment."
Kavita recalled in Hindi, "I felt quite shy sharing this. The story goes that Pancham Da called me unexpectedly at night and said, 'Come to the Film Centre at midnight.' Upon my arrival at the studio, only 5-6 musicians were present. I looked at Pancham Da and asked, 'Which song are we doing?' He replied, 'Roop Tera Mastana.' I immediately grabbed my handbag and exclaimed, 'Pancham Da, that’s Kishore Da's legendary song! Do you really think I would sing that?"
She went on to explain that Pancham Da insisted she had to sing since she was already there, leading to the recording of the track.
Reflecting on her special appearance on "Indian Idol", Kavita added, “Indian Idol has consistently been a wonderful celebration of music and talent. Being on this platform and witnessing such passionate young singers perform is genuinely heartwarming. The contestants infused so much emotion and authenticity into their songs, and it was beautiful to see them personalize every performance.”
