Mumbai, Nov 21 (NationPress) Actor Manoj Bajpayee recently shared a harrowing and humorous story on Kaun Banega Crorepati, revealing how Amitabh Bachchan nearly put his life in jeopardy.
Reflecting on a comical incident from over 26 years ago, Manoj discussed his lifelong battle with vertigo, explaining how Amitabh cleverly persuaded him to undertake a stunt that confronted his fear of heights.
Manoj recounted, “Amitji once came close to getting me killed. I suffer from severe vertigo. The action director and the film's director approached me, insisting I jump from a waterfall approximately 150-200 feet tall. They assured me that a harness would be provided.”
He continued, “Here I was, a man who can’t even bear to stand 20 feet above ground, being urged to ascend 150 feet! I flatly refused, stating, ‘I’ll die! I’ll have a heart attack!’ When no arguments swayed me, they turned to Amitabh Bachchan for help.”
Manoj recalled how Big B attempted to reassure him. “Amitji said, ‘Look, Manoj, I’m here. We’ll only go up to 50 feet. I’ve communicated to them that we can’t go higher—it could be unsafe because you’re frightened.’ They secured our harnesses and instructed me not to look down, but rather straight ahead.” Manoj added, “However, I soon realized we were climbing well beyond 50 feet. I yelled, ‘Sir! Sir! We’re ascending to 100 feet!’”
To which Amit Sir calmly responded, “Listen… if anything happens, please tell Jaya that I love her dearly.” This anecdote elicited hearty laughter from host Amitabh Bachchan, actor Jaideep Ahlawat, and the audience alike. Manoj Bajpayee and Jaideep Ahlawat appeared on the KBC set to promote their web series The Family Man 3, which premiered on November 21.
