Mumbai, Nov 14 (NationPress) The iconic Bollywood actress Kamini Kaushal has sadly passed away at the age of 98 on November 14. Widely recognized as India's oldest living film actress, her demise was attributed to health complications associated with aging. Kiara Advani, who had the privilege of acting alongside her in the popular film Kabir Singh, expressed her heartfelt tribute via social media.

Posting a nostalgic image of the legendary actress from her early career, Kiara stated, “It was a privilege to collaborate with you. Your grace, humility, and talent have inspired countless individuals and left a lasting legacy in Indian cinema. Rest in peace, Kamini Kaushal Ji.” In Kabir Singh, Kamini portrayed Kiara’s grandmother-in-law, and even though their screen time was limited, their poignant interactions received acclaim from both fans and critics.

On the same day, Bollywood luminaries Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shahid Kapoor also took to social media to honor the late actress. Kareena shared a youthful photograph of Kamini, captioning it with heart, rainbow, and folded hands emojis. Kareena collaborated with Kamini in Laal Singh Chaddha, which was the veteran actress's final film.

Shahid posted a collage featuring a younger and older Kamini, captioning it as, “Rest In Light, Ma'am.” He and Kamini shared the screen in Kabir Singh as well, where she played the role of his grandmother. Earlier that day, a family friend revealed that the Kaushal family requested privacy and a low profile during this challenging time.

According to a source, “Kamini Kaushal’s family is highly private and seeks solitude.” Kamini was born in Lahore and was the youngest of five siblings. Over her illustrious career, she appeared in over 90 films, beginning her cinematic journey with the groundbreaking Neecha Nagar, which won the Palme d'Or at the 1946 Cannes Film Festival.

Throughout her career, she delivered unforgettable performances in films like Shaheed, Nadiya Ke Paar, Shabnam, Arzoo, and Biraj Bahu. Her filmography also includes acclaimed works such as Do Bhai, Ziddi, Paras, Namoona, Jhanjar, Aabroo, Bade Sarkar, Jailor, Night Club, and Godaan. Beyond films, she made significant contributions to television, particularly with the Doordarshan series Chand Sitare.

The esteemed actress collaborated with some of the most prominent stars of Indian cinema, including Dilip Kumar, Raj Kapoor, Dev Anand, and Ashok Kumar. Her pairings with Dilip Kumar in films like Nadiya Ke Paar, Shaheed, Shabnam, and Aarzoo were particularly celebrated. She is survived by her sons—Shravan, Vidur, and Rahul Sood.
