Kishen Das Portrays a CRPF Cobra Unit Officer in 'Tharunam'

Chennai, Jan 9 (NationPress) Actor Kishen Das, recognized for his exceptional role in the musical romantic drama Mudhal Nee Mudivum Nee, states that he portrays an officer in the Cobra unit of the CRPF in the forthcoming romantic thriller 'Tharunam' directed by Arvindh Srinivasan.

In an exclusive conversation with IANS, Kishen Das remarked, “I have undertaken numerous roles in this film that are completely new to me, including dancing and fighting. Mastering these skills and delivering them convincingly posed my greatest challenges.”

The film, characterized by director Arvindh Srinivasan as a thriller intertwined with a romantic narrative, features Kishen alongside actress Smruthi Venkat and Raj Ayappa.

“While the genre of this film isn't unprecedented, my approach to narrating the story within this genre is entirely unique. Picture embarking on a journey to resolve a significant issue. If you encounter an accident along the way, which becomes an additional hurdle, how will you prioritize? You must address both challenges. Our story unfolds along those lines,” explains Arvindh.

Regarding his role and the preparations involved, Kishen states, “I portray an officer in the Cobra unit of the CRPF. This character is vastly different from my personality. I am generally a carefree individual who becomes easily flustered. In contrast, members of the armed forces maintain their composure under any situation. Hence, I needed to adjust my demeanor to fit this role.”

The actor further added, “To perfect the body language, Arvindh sir advised me to engage in workouts to broaden my shoulders. He provided images of actual CRPF Cobra unit officers, who typically serve in jungle environments and lack access to gyms, resulting in a lean physique. Therefore, I trained at home and adhered to his guidance. To master the proper body language when addressing a senior officer or saluting, Arvindh arranged for a Cobra unit officer to demonstrate the correct techniques.”

The film, completed in just 37 days, was primarily shot in Chennai and its surrounding regions.

Produced by Pugaz and Eden for Zhen Studios, the film features music by Darbuka Siva and cinematography by Raja Bhattacharjee. Editing is handled by Arul Elango Siddharth, while art direction is managed by Varnaalayaa Jagadeesan. The film is set to hit theaters on January 14, coinciding with the Pongal festival.
