Chennai, Jan 28 (NationPress) The producers of director Arvindh Srinivasan’s Tamil film ‘Tharunam’, starring actors Kishen Das and Smruthi Venkat in leading roles, have officially set the release date for January 31 this year.

It is worth noting that the film initially debuted on January 14 for a short duration, but was subsequently pulled from theatres to be re-released later due to the producers' concerns over insufficient screen availability.

Actor Kishen Das announced the news on his X timeline, stating, “We are bringing #Tharunam back to the big screens after deciding to end the run during Pongal. January 31st is the confirmed date, and we hope to see more audiences in theatres with additional shows and convenient timings. To those who have watched the film, please share your reviews.”

‘Tharunam’ is a thriller interwoven with a love story, designed as a total entertainer, though it does not carry any overt social messaging, but will touch upon a relevant societal issue. The tension arises from a relationship, as the director revealed in a prior interview with IANS.

Arvindh noted, “This genre is not unfamiliar; however, my approach to narrating this story within it will be distinctly unique. Imagine starting from home with the goal to solve a problem. If you encounter an accident along the way resulting in another dilemma, which problem will take precedence? You must deal with both situations. This narrative follows that premise.”

The film showcases Kishen Das portraying an officer in the Cobra unit of the CRPF, filmed over a span of 37 days in and around Chennai. The original plan included shooting in Kashmir, but was abandoned due to the sinus issues faced by Smruthi Venkat, the film’s leading lady.
