Did KRK Fire Two Rounds While Cleaning His Gun at Home?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 24 (NationPress) Just hours after his arrest by the Mumbai Police, actor Kamaal Rashid Khan, known as KRK, became the center of attention following a two-round firing incident reported in the Oshiwara locality. On Saturday, authorities disclosed that KRK discharged two rounds while cleaning his firearm at home to verify its functionality.
According to police reports, Kamaal Rashid Khan had acquired a gun license and a firearm from Uttar Pradesh in 2005. Following this, he moved to Mumbai, housing the licensed weapon from Uttar Pradesh at his residence for nearly twenty years.
In compliance with the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for the Mumbai Municipal Corporation elections, KRK submitted his firearm at the Versova police station a few days ago. Once the MCC was lifted, he reclaimed the weapon.
As per the police, approximately four or five days after reclaiming the firearm, the actor was cleaning it at home when he allegedly fired two rounds to ensure it was operational.
During this process, the shots were reportedly aimed towards a tree on Lokhandwala Back Road. However, due to strong winds, the bullets veered off course and struck the nearby Nalanda building.
Following the incident, the Oshiwara police initiated an investigation, registering a case from multiple angles. After conducting interrogations, the police arrested KRK in connection with the shooting incident.
Police reports indicate that KRK was identified as the main suspect, taken into custody, and brought to the Oshiwara police station late Friday night for questioning.
During his statement, the actor acknowledged his involvement in the shooting, confirming that the shots were fired using his licensed firearm. The police confirmed that the weapon has been confiscated, and necessary paperwork is underway for further legal proceedings.
Details emerging from the investigation indicate that the incident occurred on January 18, when two rounds hit a residential building in Oshiwara, Andheri. During the probe, officials retrieved two bullets from the Nalanda Society—one from the second floor and another from the fourth floor of the structure.
Authorities reported that one of the affected flats belongs to a writer-director, while another is occupied by a model. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incident.
