Key Takeaways
Mumbai, April 13 (NationPress) Renowned music composer Lalit Pandit shared a delightful story about the iconic singer Asha Bhosle, reminiscing about the joy of collaborating with her.
In an exclusive interview with IANS, Lalit Pandit of the celebrated Jatin-Lalit duo recounted how during the recording of a song, Asha Bhosle would first heed their guidance but ultimately record in her unique style.
“With other artists, we often found ourselves saying, 'Cut here, sing this part, sing that part.' But she preferred no interruptions,” Lalit explained.
He continued, “She would initially sing as we intended. After completing that, she would ask, 'Are you satisfied now?' Then she’d declare, 'Now let me go, I will perform the entire song.' And when she did, we seldom needed to edit anything because her rendition was flawless. Her expressions were genuine and vibrant. She was truly an exceptional artist and our last legend.”
Describing Asha Bhosle as a playful spirit with immense courage, Pandit remarked, “She was always up to some mischief. I must say she had a lion-hearted nature. She radiated joy. Before each recording, she would arrive at our studio to rehearse.”
He added, “At the end of a workday, she would join us, and we would relax, reminisce about songs, and engage in lively conversations. Recording sessions were solely dedicated to her, with nothing else on the agenda, just Asha ji's dubbing.”
“She would come, we’d chat, and during lunchtime, we would share meals and stories. Then she would begin her singing,” he elaborated.
The composer expressed his gratitude for the chance to work with such a legendary figure.
“We consider ourselves very fortunate to have collaborated with her. In fact, in our debut film, Khiladi, Asha ji lent her voice to all the songs. Numerous films followed where she sang every track, such as Pyaar Kisi Se Hota Hai and the memorable song 'Zara Sa Jhoom Loon' from Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge.
He reflected, “We shared many unforgettable moments with her and were privileged to receive her blessings and support throughout our careers.”
On the topic of the legendary singer's passing, Lalit Pandit expressed, “It’s profoundly sorrowful that she is no longer with us. The world mourns her loss. Yet through her voice and her songs, she will forever remain among us, alive in our memories.”
He concluded, “The unfortunate truth is that there are no longer legendary artists like Asha ji. However, I believe that the songs she gave us, which have greatly enriched our industry and the music realm, should be celebrated.”
