Lalit Pandit Shares Insights on the Creation of ‘Fanaa’ Music Just Before Jatin-Lalit Split

Mumbai, Jan 2 (NationPress) Music composer Lalit Pandit, part of the duo Jatin-Lalit, recently discussed his brother Jatin's growing withdrawal during the production of the soundtrack for ‘Fanaa’. This film, featuring Aamir Khan, served as the final album for Jatin-Lalit before their separation.
Lalit shared this story in a recent episode of the singing competition ‘Indian Idol 15’.
In the episode, Lalit complimented contestant Myscmee for her rendition of ‘Mere Haath Mein’ from ‘Fanaa’, saying, “Bahut accha gaya apne”.
Reflecting on this period, he stated, “This is Jatin-Lalit’s last album. During this film, our split occurred. Jatin and I were quite distressed. I felt we should create music that would be memorable since our brand was coming to an end. I composed the songs ‘Chand Sifarish’ and ‘Dekho Naa’, while Jatin started to withdraw a bit. However, I dedicated months to mixing them. The emotion we were experiencing is evident in this music”.
Lalit was accompanied by Abhijeet Bhattacharya, Sadhna Sargam, along with Sumati Bhattacharya, Abhijeet Bhattacharya's wife, and actress Preeti Jhangiani during this episode.
The episode celebrated some of the most remarkable love songs in history as contestants created a romantic vibe and honored legendary love tracks, alongside judges Shreya Ghoshal and Vishal Dadlani.
Another highlight was when contestant Ranjini received accolades for her performance of ‘Aankhein Khuli’. Lalit affectionately referred to her as “Chota Packet, Bada Dhamaka”. Ranjini expressed her admiration for all the songs from ‘Mohabbatein’ and, marking the film's 25th anniversary, inquired of Preeti Jhangiani if it was true that she had taught Shah Rukh Khan the dance moves for the songs.
Preeti responded, “Actually, this is true because we were so well-rehearsed. Shah Rukh sir didn’t really need much practice, but he was shown the steps on set and asked us what was next. We would guide him on the subsequent moves.”
‘Indian Idol 15’ is broadcast on Sony Entertainment Television.
