Mumbai Dec 12 (NationPress) The forthcoming episode of Indian Idol season 16 is set to evoke nostalgia among music enthusiasts, as it features two of India's most legendary voices, Udit Narayan and Kavita Krishnamurthy.
During their time on stage, Udit shared a delightful anecdote along with some touching memories from the recording of the hit song “Koi Mil Gaya” from the film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Originally performed by the iconic trio of Udit Narayan, Kavita Krishnamurthy, and Alka Yagnik, this song remains one of the most beloved pieces in Hindi cinema.
Reflecting on the recording, Udit Narayan humorously recalled his intense nervousness before stepping into the studio, stating, “Jatin-Lalit ne mujhe do sherniyon ke beech khada kar diya. (Jatin-Lalit put me in a fix and placed me in front of these two lionesses, referring to their powerful presence.)” He even asked the music directors if he could record his part at a later time.
However, the ever-persistent Jatin–Lalit encouraged him, saying, “Do Sherri ke beech ek sher toh aa jaye (A lion can surely stand between two lionesses),” motivating Udit Narayan to take the stage.
To this, Kavita Krishnamurthy affectionately added that Udit often praises both her and Alka Yagnik, yet when the mic is on, it is he who commands the spotlight.
She remarked that Udit Narayan only needs to hum a simple “hey”, and the strength of his voice “echoes through the Himalayas”.
Kavita further reminisced that while she and Alka Yagnik practiced rigorously to perfect every note, Udit Narayan would effortlessly deliver his lines with remarkable ease.
