Mumbai, May 3 (NationPress) Actress Lisa Ray recently shared her insights on maintaining fitness after the age of 40, revealing that she has completely eliminated cardio from her routine as it is not advisable after a certain age.
On her Instagram, Lisa posted a series of videos showcasing her leg workout, where she can be seen performing leg presses, curls, and lunges, complemented by some stretching exercises.
She expressed, "Leg day is tough with @suhan.khnofficial @transform_tsk, but in a positive way. I’ve learned that excessively intense workouts can lead to a stress response in those over mid-life, causing weight retention. It’s all about moderation, consistency, and enjoying the process."
Lisa emphasized the importance for women over 40 to seek a trainer or a fitness discipline that resonates with them.
"For women in their 40s and beyond, finding a trainer who understands the unique fitness needs of women is invaluable. Alternatively, discover a discipline that you enjoy. For me, it’s a mix of Pilates, yoga, tennis, and essential weight training. Despite my frequent travels making consistency a challenge, I prioritize showing up for myself, not for anyone else’s approval (sic)," she shared.
She humorously noted that she has completely stopped doing cardio, explaining how she manages to get her cardio in other ways.
"Can you believe I’ve completely let go of cardio? After a certain age, high-intensity cardio is not advisable. I get all the cardio I need just from getting up off the floor and maneuvering around gym equipment," she quipped.
Making her acting debut in 1994 with the film Hanste Khelte, Lisa Ray has shown a commitment to issue-centric roles throughout her career, most notably in the Oscar-nominated film Water in 2005 and the acclaimed South African film The World Unseen.
Her journey took a challenging turn in 2009 when she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer that currently has no cure.
