Chennai, Mar 18 (NationPress) Director Lokesh Kanakaraj has officially completed the filming of the highly anticipated action entertainer, ‘Coolie’, starring the legendary Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead role. He expressed that he will eternally cherish the remarkable experience of creating this film.
The acclaimed director, known for his spectacular track record of hits and blockbusters, took to X to share his reflections on the conclusion of filming.
“IT’S A WRAP FOR #COOLIE. What an incredible journey it has been alongside @rajinikanth sir, @iamnagarjuna sir, @nimmaupendra sir, #SathyaRaj sir, #SoubinShahir sir, @shrutihaasan, and the entire crew. I will forever treasure this amazing experience,” he wrote.
Late Monday night, Sun Pictures, the production company behind the film, released a video clip announcing the wrap of the shoot. The crew even celebrated by cutting a cake on the last day of filming.
'Coolie' is anticipated to be an action thriller, featuring a stellar cast including Telugu actor Nagarjuna, Kannada star Upendra, Malayalam actor Soubin Shahir, and Tamil star Sathyaraj. Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is rumored to make a cameo appearance.
The movie will also showcase actors Shruti Haasan, Rebe Monica John, and Junior MGR in significant roles.
Music for the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander and cinematography is handled by Girish Gangadharan. Editing is managed by Philomin Raj and the film is produced by Kalanithi Maran's Sun Pictures.
The film has generated significant buzz for several reasons, one of which is the reunion of actors Sathyaraj and Rajinikanth after nearly 38 years. They last appeared together in the blockbuster Tamil film 'Mr Bharath', released in 1986, where Sathyaraj portrayed Rajinikanth's father. Interestingly, Sathyaraj had previously declined roles in some of Rajinikanth's earlier films like 'Enthiran' and 'Sivaji'.
'Coolie', marking Rajinikanth's 171st film, will center around the theme of gold smuggling. Notably, director Lokesh Kanakaraj has revealed that 'Coolie' is intended to be a standalone film, distinct from his Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU).
