Los Angeles, Feb 25 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Lucy Liu expressed feeling hurt upon reading parts of the script for 'Old Guy', yet she found it extremely easy to collaborate with Christoph Waltz in this action comedy.
The 56-year-old actress portrays Anata, alongside Christoph Waltz, in this new action comedy that centers around an aging hitman, Danny (played by Waltz), who is tasked with mentoring a young prodigy. While she acknowledged her character's ability to adapt to different situations, there were undeniably painful moments in the narrative that resonated with her, as reported by femalefirst.co.uk.
She mentioned to ScreenRant: “I believe she possesses the agility to adapt. She’s somewhat of a chameleon, and she has always been, especially when she finds herself in a situation where she sincerely hopes for a future with this doctor in Belfast. It becomes a wake-up call when she realizes that she’s merely a bit of a side character.
“It’s painful, and it stings, and I think when she receives affection and care from Danny, her old friend, she feels a bit slighted because she truly doesn’t want anyone to feel pity for her, and she senses that she’s been overlooked.”
In the movie, Anata is not portrayed as a killer but rather as an old friend of Danny who is simply along for the journey. Lucy discovered it was incredibly easy to collaborate with her co-stars due to the freedom she experienced on set.
She added: “I think they share a commonality, feeling that they possess a lot of potential, yet others perceive that they might have passed their prime.”
“Thus, working with Christoph was extremely effortless because it allowed you to fully immerse yourself in your role without interference. I can’t say the same for all artists.
“We filmed that scene after they were in the club, on the stairs multiple times. It’s a wonderful feeling to know that you can be vulnerable and fully embody your character with someone who provides a safe space.”
