Maharashtra Cyber Records Comedian Shashwat Maheshwari's Statement in Ranveer Allahbadia Case

Mumbai, Feb 20 (NationPress) Amid the ongoing issues related to Ranveer Allahbadia, the Maharashtra Cyber unit has officially taken the statement of stand-up comedian Shashwat Maheshwari.

To date, the cyber unit has gathered statements from three individuals associated with the case, including Raghu Ram and Devesh Dixit. Authorities are actively investigating this matter, which has attracted considerable scrutiny on various social media channels, leading to multiple interrogations related to the situation. The controversial show, known for its provocative themes, has prompted Maharashtra Cyber to collect testimonies from guests featured in its episodes.

As the investigation progresses, it is anticipated that more individuals will be interviewed, and the potential legal ramifications of the show's content will be thoroughly assessed.

In light of the uproar caused by Ranveer Allahbadia's remarks on the program “India’s Got Latent,” comedian Samay Raina has removed all episodes from YouTube. In response to the incident, the Supreme Court has mandated Allahbadia to surrender his passport to the investigating officer at the Nodal Cyber Police Station in Thane.

Furthermore, the Supreme Court has placed a ban on the podcaster and his team from airing any shows on YouTube or other platforms until further instructions are provided.

For those unfamiliar, Ranveer Allahbadia was featured on Samay Raina’s show alongside other content creators such as Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija. During the episode, Allahbadia faced severe backlash after posing an inappropriate and offensive question to a female contestant. This controversial comment triggered immediate outrage among audiences and critics alike.

Consequently, a formal complaint was lodged with both the Mumbai Police Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission.

Allahbadia, recognized for his BeerBiceps brand, subsequently issued an apology, acknowledging that his comment was “not appropriate” and “not even funny.” In a video statement, Ranveer expressed, “My comment was not appropriate, was not even funny, comedy is not my forte, I am just here to say sorry. Many of you asked if this is how I use my platform, obviously, this is not how I wished to use it.”

He further stated, “I am not going to give any context, any justification, or reasoning behind whatever happened. I am just offering an apology. I personally had a lapse in my judgment; it was not cool on my part. The podcast is watched by people of all ages, and I don’t want to be a kind of person that takes responsibility; family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect. Need to use this platform better; that's been my learning from this whole experience. I promise to get better; I have asked the makers to remove the insensitive segment from the video. I am sorry; I hope you can forgive me as a human being.”
