Chennai, June 11 (NationPress) Renowned director Mari Selvaraj, celebrated for his critically acclaimed cult classic 'Pariyerum Perumal', which became a major success, revealed on Wednesday that his initial vision was to cast Atharvaa in the lead role of Pariyerum Perumal.
At the audio launch of director Nelson Venkatesan's DNA, featuring Atharvaa Murali and Nimisha Sajayan in prominent roles, Mari Selvaraj shared, "I wonder if Atharvaa recalls this. He was the first actor to whom I presented the Pariyerum Perumal script. After watching 'Paradesi', I crafted the script and pondered which hero to approach.
"I was an ardent admirer of Murali sir (Atharvaa's father), an actor who beautifully portrayed characters experiencing one-sided love. This form of love isn't about rejection; rather, it's a silent affection without the need for verbal acknowledgment. The essence is, 'I love you without needing to say it.'
"When Atharvaa's 'Banaa Kaathadi' hit the screens, I envisioned him as the protagonist of Pariyerum Perumal. He embodied the character perfectly. I met him to discuss the script, but unfortunately, due to his packed schedule, he couldn't participate in this film," Mari Selvaraj expressed.
"You won't believe how disappointed I was that day when it became apparent that Atharvaa wouldn't be part of the film," the director admitted.
Mari Selvaraj further elaborated, "I was left contemplating who could take on the role now that Atharvaa was unavailable. I had told my wife that Pariyerum Perumal would feature Atharvaa. Although that didn't materialize, I’ve always believed he would achieve great heights in his career. His talent, speed, and skill are undeniable. DNA is set to be a pivotal film for him."
