Actress Meena, who plays the female lead opposite Malayalam superstar Mohanlal in director Jeethu Joseph's upcoming Malayalam thriller Drishyam 3, posted a video on Thursday, May 7 showing herself enjoying a ride in a driverless taxi. In the Instagram clip, Meena quips, "Hi, shall I introduce you to my driver?" before panning to an empty driver's seat and announcing, "Driverless taxi." The post, captioned "Trusting the tech and enjoying the view," has drawn speculation from followers that the experience took place in the United States.

Drishyam 3 clears censors

Meanwhile, Drishyam 3 has received clearance from the Censor Board with a U/A 13+ certificate, paving the way for its theatrical release. The third instalment in the immensely popular franchise is now scheduled for 21 May, after its original 2 April release date was postponed due to regional tensions in the gulf.

Teaser builds anticipation

The recently released teaser has amplified excitement for the film by recapping both earlier instalments. The first part's recap is narrated from the perspective of protagonist George Kutty, played by Mohanlal, while the second part's recap comes from the viewpoint of the police. In the teaser, George Kutty's voice is heard saying, "I am just an ordinary man. My world is small and it comprises just my wife and my children. An unwanted guest invaded our privacy — a guest who had the power to destroy my family. We sent him back forever to ensure he would never return to ruin our lives."

A new vulnerability emerges

The teaser also features George Kutty praying in a church, where he confesses to God: "This battle of mine began the day I was born. I had no one to call my own. After much slogging and struggle, I built a family for myself. When there came a time that could shatter it, I acted without thinking about repercussions or consequences. In the process, I did not realise how many people I had hurt. Now, I am scared, sir. I don't know who else is out there watching!" A police officer's voice adds: "It's like a case that is closed but will never close. Actually, it was not us who were watching him. He was the one watching us."

A protagonist under pressure

Unlike the earlier two instalments, where George Kutty navigated challenges with composure and quick thinking, the teaser suggests he faces fresh trials while visibly rattled and fearful. The question looming over the narrative is whether a scared and vulnerable George Kutty can muster the same presence of mind to confront the dangers ahead.
