Meerra Chopraa's Terrifying Cab Ride: Driver Almost Asleep Behind the Wheel
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, February 24 (NationPress) Actress Meerra Chopraa has voiced her apprehension regarding the safety protocols in app-based cab services following a "massively frightening and unfortunate" early morning ride that left her disturbed.
In a post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, Meerra, who is related to global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas, disclosed that she had made a reservation for a cab for a six-hour duration. However, the situation took a concerning turn shortly after the journey commenced.
According to the actress, the driver showed up in a vehicle that was not only dirty but also emitted a foul odor.
"I had a massively scary and unfortunate experience with @Uber_India. I booked a cab for 6 hours early in the morning. The driver arrived in a filthy, stinking, and dusty car," she shared.
Meerra further expressed her dismay as she observed the driver's drowsiness, which became evident when she inquired about the unpleasant smell of the vehicle.
"Upon asking him about the odor, I realized he could hardly communicate because he was virtually sleeping while driving. I exited the cab within 20 minutes and booked another one. And what does Uber do?"
Adding to her frustration, Meerra was charged for the entire six-hour booking despite canceling the ride due to safety concerns.
"Instead of rectifying their issues, they charged me for the full 6 hours," she noted.
She emphasized that the safety regulations within the country's public transport system are gravely lacking.
"The safety standards in our country's public transportation are severely compromised, and in such circumstances, companies are merely focused on profit. Disgusting!"
Meerra made her debut in Tamil cinema with the 2005 film Anbe Aaruyire, starring alongside S. J. Surya. Her subsequent film was Bangaram, a Telugu-language production featuring Pawan Kalyan, followed by her acclaimed performance in M. S. Raju's Vaana.
She ventured into Bollywood with Vikram Bhatt's 1920 London: Fear Strikes Again, alongside Sharman Joshi. She has also been seen in Satish Kaushik's Gang of Ghosts.
Meerra portrayed Anjali Dangle in the 2019 film Section 375, featuring Akshaye Khanna and Richa Chaddha. Additionally, she produced her first feature film, Gandhi Talks, a silent film with a soundtrack by A. R. Rahman.
