Los Angeles, May 21 (NationPress) - Renowned Hollywood actor Michael Douglas has stated that he does not possess a strong urge to return to acting but remains receptive to the idea of stepping back in front of the camera if a suitable role presents itself.
The 80-year-old thespian was last featured on screen as Benjamin Franklin in the 2024 miniseries 'Franklin.' Since then, he has concentrated on his production company, Further Films, and is relishing the opportunity to spend more time with his wife, Catherine Zeta-Jones, as reported by femalefirst.co.uk.
Douglas mentioned to Deadline: “I’m enjoying my hiatus and enjoying my life. It was overwhelming managing the production company while acting simultaneously.”
The 'Wall Street' star isn't abandoning acting altogether but will only return for a project that genuinely excites him.
When asked about his future acting prospects, he replied: “Yes. If something appealing comes up that I truly like. However, I don’t feel a strong urge. I’m still producing and enjoy bringing people together.”
Douglas portrayed Dr. Hank Pym in Marvel's 'Ant-Man' series but noted that 2023's 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania' was his final appearance in that role.
When inquired if he would reprise the part, he remarked: “I don’t think so. I had the experience and was excited to do it. I’d never worked on a green screen project before.”
Douglas has also filmed 'Blood Knot' with his son Cameron, but he is uncertain when it will be released.
He commented: “I believe it’s currently seeking distribution.”
Previously, he expressed a desire for a dramatic death scene in 'Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.'
On 'The View,' he shared: “(Getting killed off) was actually my request for the third installment. I asked for a serious death, with all these amazing special effects. There must be a fantastic way for me to shrink to ant size and explode, or whatever. I want to utilize all those effects.”
