Los Angeles, Aug 17 (NationPress) Hollywood actress Mila Kunis gave a stunning performance in Darren Aronofsky's directorial masterpiece ‘Black Swan’. Yet, remarkable achievements often arise from intense challenges.
In a recent interview with ‘Vogue’ celebrating the film's 15th anniversary, Kunis, alongside co-star Natalie Portman and director Darren Aronofsky, discussed her transformation into a professional ballerina.
She revealed, “My preparation involved a lot of dancing and not much eating, which I know is frowned upon, but it’s the reality. I consumed plenty of broth and danced for 12 hours daily.”
Kunis added, “Originally, we were set for three months of preparation before filming, but due to financing issues, that was extended to six months while Darren sought the funds. It was tough for Darren, but Natalie and I were thrilled about the additional three months to dance.”
According to ‘People’, the star of Luckiest Girl Alive recounted the painful injuries she endured while filming the numerous dance sequences.
She shared with Vogue, “We shot those dance scenes for hours, and I ended up with bruises all over my ribs from being lifted repeatedly. I even dislocated my shoulder early in production and thought it was the end for me, but Darren sent me to an acupuncturist, and I managed to recover completely.”
During the conversation, Portman, 44, recounted the unexpected story of how Kunis landed the role of Lily, her character's seductive rival.
Natalie stated, “We had been friends for years, and I remember being at the Rose Bowl Flea Market discussing this ballet film I was making with Darren. Mila mentioned, 'I remember when I used to take off my pointe shoes,' and I was like, 'Wait, you did ballet?' I immediately called Darren and said there was this incredible actress with ballet experience who would be ideal for Lily.”
