Mohanlal Embraces Akshay Kumar at the Launch of 'Barroz' Trailer

Mumbai, December 11 (NationPress) The esteemed superstar Mohanlal was joined by Bollywood's 'Khiladi', Akshay Kumar, at the trailer launch of 'Barroz', which signifies the Malayalam actor's first venture into directing.

Mohanlal greeted Akshay at the event held in the bustling city of Mumbai with a heartfelt bear hug. The two icons later posed for photographs and enjoyed a lighthearted conversation.

Looking stylish, Akshay donned a crisp white shirt complemented by khaki trousers and sunglasses, while Mohanlal appeared equally dapper in a rust-colored blazer, a white shirt, and dark blue trousers.

'Barroz' is scheduled for a global release in 3D and various formats on December 25.

This film is a children's fantasy inspired by Mohanlal's novel 'Barroz: Guardian of D'Gama's Treasure'. The cast also includes notable talents such as Maya, Cesar Lorente Raton, Kallirroi Tziafeta, Tuhin Menon, and Guru Somasundaram in key roles.

Filming for 'Barroz' commenced in March 2021, with locations including Kochi, Goa, Bangkok, and Chennai.

On a related note, Akshay expressed his enthusiasm on December 10 about working with his favorite director, Priyadarshan, as he began shooting for his upcoming project 'Bhooth Bangla', which is set to release on April 2, 2026.

He shared a new poster of the film on Instagram, stating: 'Beyond excited to be on set with my favourite @priyadarshan.official as we begin the shoot of our horror comedy #BhoothBangla today.'

He added, 'Yeh darr aur hasi ka double dose aapke liye ready hoga 2nd April, 2026 ko! Tab tak ke liye aapke best wishes chahiye.'

Apart from Akshay, the upcoming horror comedy 'Bhooth Bangla' will also feature actors Paresh Rawal, Asrani, and Rajpal Yadav under the direction of Priyadarshan.

Production is expected to kick off in early 2025, with a theatrical release by the end of the year. The casting process is ongoing, with three female lead roles still to be finalized.

Akshay has previously collaborated with Paresh in films like 'Hera Pheri', 'Phir Hera Pheri', and 'Garam Masala'. He also shared the screen with Rajpal in 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa' and 'Bhagam Bhag'. Additionally, Asrani and Akshay worked together in 'Khatta Meetha'.

On his 57th birthday, September 9, Akshay announced his reunion with director Priyadarshan after a 14-year hiatus for this film.

He took to X, formerly Twitter, to unveil the motion poster of 'Bhooth Bangla', featuring him holding a bowl with a black cat perched on his shoulder.

Akshay expressed gratitude for the love he received on his birthday, stating: 'Thank you for your love on my birthday, year after year! Celebrating this year with the first look of ‘Bhooth Bangla'! I’m beyond excited to join forces with Priyadarshan again after 14 years.'

He further remarked, 'This dream collaboration has been a long time coming… can’t wait to share this incredible journey with you all. Stay tuned for the magic!'

Akshay and Priyadarshan have a rich history of delivering hits together, including 'Hera Pheri', 'De Dana Dan', 'Bhool Bhulaiyaa', 'Garam Masala', and 'Khatta Meetha'.
