Chennai, Oct 1 (NationPress) The acclaimed Malayalam actor Mohanlal unveiled a gripping trailer for the much-anticipated horror thriller, 'Dies Irae', directed by Rahul Sadasivan, much to the excitement of fans and cinema enthusiasts.

Initially referred to as #NSS2, the film stars Pranav Mohanlal in a leading role.

On his X timeline, Mohanlal posted, "#DIESIRAE official trailer. @impranavlal."

The trailer kicks off with an elderly woman advising a man that he should have voiced his concerns when he sensed something was amiss with a child. The man questions, "How could I share my feelings with others? What would they think?" The woman responds, "And now, wasn't that feeling proven to be accurate?"

It becomes clear that the child discussed is portrayed by Pranav Mohanlal. The trailer hints that Pranav’s character is the sole son of a family rumored to be cursed, facing eerie occurrences he struggles to communicate, fearing disbelief from others.

Based on true events, this film is set to premiere around Halloween this year.

'Dies Irae' has generated significant buzz due to its creators, being produced by the same team behind the Malayalam classic, ‘Brammayugam’, which starred the legendary Mammootty.

Filming for 'Dies Irae' commenced in late March of this year in Vadakara, Calicut. Interestingly, there were reports that the production team aimed to finish filming within 40 days, yet they wrapped it up by April, ahead of schedule.

Cinematographer Shehnad Jalal, known for his work in ‘Brammayugam’, is also behind the lens for this project. The film's art direction is handled by Jothish Shankar, who also worked on Brammayugam, with editing by Shafique Mohammed Ali, another collaborator from the previous film.

Director Rahul Sadasivan achieved critical acclaim with ‘Brammayugam’, a period horror film set in Kerala's dark past, which primarily followed three male characters and was filmed in black and white. Alongside Mammootty, the cast included Sidharth Bharathan, Arjun Ashokan, and Amalda Liz. The film featured dialogues penned by renowned Malayalam novelist TD Ramakrishnan, famous for his novel Francis Itty Cora.
