Nargis Fakhri Shares How She Landed ‘Rockstar’

Mumbai, Dec 24 (NationPress) Actress Nargis Fakhri disclosed that it was an advertising campaign she participated in while in Greece that was pivotal in her landing a role in the 2011 blockbuster film ‘Rockstar’, which stars Ranbir Kapoor.
Nargis was conversing with filmmaker Farah Khan, who had invited her to cook for her YouTube channel at her residence. In the vlog, Nargis prepared a quick and nutritious vegetable stir fry.
Farah inquired about Nargis's origins during her time in ‘Rockstar’, directed by Imtiaz Ali.
“I was living in Copenhagen, Denmark at that time,” Nargis replied.
Farah then asked, “How were you discovered?”
Nargis responded, stating it was through an email.
“While I was in Greece, I worked as a model and received an offer for a jewelry campaign. As models, we are often unaware of where the advertisements will be used. They simply inform us that we are hired, pay us, and we proceed with the work,” she explained.
Giving credit to luck, she added: “I believe they (the filmmakers) were searching for me due to the posters, which is how they obtained my email address from the Indian production company that oversaw the shoot. So, it’s all about kismat.”
‘Rockstar’ is a musical romantic drama featuring performances by Aditi Rao Hydari, Piyush Mishra, Shernaz Patel, Kumud Mishra, Sanjana Sanghi, Aakash Dahiya, and Shammi Kapoor. The film’s soundtrack was composed by A. R. Rahman. This film marks the posthumous appearance of Shammi Kapoor, following his passing on August 14, 2011.
On the film’s release day, protests were held by Tibetans in Chennai and Kangra against the Central Board of Film Certification, which requested the filmmakers to censor scenes featuring the Tibetan flag.
The narrative follows a college student named Janardhan, a simple individual who fervently seeks inspiration for the musician within him. While heartbreak aids him in achieving his aspirations, it also leads him down a path of self-destruction.
