Mumbai, March 13 (NationPress) As the vibrant festival of colours approaches this Friday, actor Pavail Gulatie took a nostalgic journey back to his childhood days spent celebrating Holi in New Delhi.
Pavail reminisced: “My wild Holi experiences occurred during my school days. In my community, the festivities involved water balloons, which would begin about 1.5 weeks prior to the festival.”
He noted that it felt like an unspoken rivalry among friends in the neighborhood.
“We would compete to see who could gather the most water balloons. While filling them, we would playfully toss them at each other. It was chaotic yet enjoyable - we even targeted passersby and cars!”
This friendly competition amusingly escalated into a heist.
“The balloon rivalry would evolve into a heist - we would rush to a friend’s house who had stockpiled the most water balloons and would either destroy them or cheekily steal them.”
“We took it so seriously that looking back, I can't help but laugh. There were moments when kids would cry over losing balloons or having them snatched away. Those were truly wild days - I fondly refer to it as the Gubbara heist.”
For Pavail and his peers, this competition was far more significant than their sleep.
“Those moments and rivalries held more value than our rest! All of this happened in Delhi as I was growing up in Sarita Vihar. My friends and I would also play cricket in the community. It was absolute madness. I can't emphasize enough how seriously we took everything!”
