Pavitra Punia slams trolls over cosmetic surgery speculation: 'Stop disturbing actors'
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Pavitra Punia on Thursday morning posted a video calling out social media trolls and entertainment pages for spreading baseless speculation about actors undergoing cosmetic procedures. The Bigg Boss 14 alumna criticised what she termed "double-meaning" captions paired with actor photographs, arguing that such content fuels unfounded rumours while boosting engagement for media outlets.
What Pavitra said
In the video, Pavitra addressed trolls directly: "I don't know what the problem with you guys is, but I think you all love trolling, and somewhere I think the media is also enjoying these things by putting the photos and then putting the caption in a very double-minded way, in a very funny way… And giving like a guess to the audience so that your engagement is going on." She urged social media pages to cease the practice immediately.
The surgery speculation issue
The actress singled out comments claiming actors have undergone multiple cosmetic procedures. "Saying 'that they have gotten a surgery done, 500 surgeries they have done, 1 lakh surgeries they have undergone'… Those 1 lakh were not taken from you, and we don't come to you for suggestions," she said. Pavitra emphasised that actors' personal choices regarding their appearance are their own business and not subject to public scrutiny or approval.
A call for accountability
Pavitra acknowledged that some industry members openly discuss cosmetic procedures, which she framed as their prerogative. "At least some people in the industry still say that yes, we are doing that, and if you want to do that, if your family wants to do that, please go ahead, spend the money and do it. Don't troll. Just shut up," she added. In her caption, she questioned whether trolls were being paid for their activity: "Kuch to sharam bachi hogi, ya sirf trolling ki he salary milti hai tum logon ko bhai."
