Los Angeles, Nov 9 (NationPress) Actor and producer Pierce Brosnan, famous for his role as James Bond, has recently mended his relationship with his son. Previously, the actor had publicly stated that he had cut ties with his son due to his struggles with substance abuse.
The 72-year-old actor had revealed two decades ago that he had distanced himself from his son, Christopher Brosnan, due to his battles with drug addiction, as reported by ‘Female First UK’.
Recently, the father-son duo was spotted enjoying a meal together at a bistro in Notting Hill, west London.
A source shared with the Sunday Mirror, “They both appeared happy and at ease while dining alongside one of Brosnan’s other sons, Dylan. The issues between Pierce and Christopher have been widely covered, but it seems they’ve found a way to move past them. It was truly heartwarming to witness their reunion.”
Christopher has faced significant challenges, including addiction to cocaine and heroin, and nearly lost his life due to an overdose in 2002.
According to ‘Female First UK’, he later went to rehab but faced legal troubles for heroin possession in 2005. That same year, Pierce, who adopted Christopher and his late sister Charlotte (the children of his first wife Cassandra Harris), discussed his estrangement with his son.
In an interview with ‘Playboy’ magazine, he expressed, “Christopher is still very lost. It’s a shocking reality. I know where he is, but he’s leading a difficult life. I can only hold onto strong faith and hope for his recovery. He has tested our family's limits, but most importantly, he has tested himself. He possesses the ability to change his situation, but he hasn’t yet chosen that path. It’s painful because you try to detach. You never truly sever ties, yet I had to tell Christopher: ‘Go. Start living, or start dying.’ He remains in my prayers.”
In 2022, Pierce appeared to reach out to his estranged child with a Father’s Day message, honoring Christopher alongside his other sons, Sean, Dylan, and Paris, whom he shares with his second wife Keely Shaye Smith.
He wrote, “My love forever to you, dear sons: Paris, Dylan, Sean, and Christopher. I deeply appreciate your love this Father’s Day.”
However, in the accompanying image, Pierce was only seen with Paris, Dylan, and Sean.
