Los Angeles, Oct 18 (NationPress) Cuban-American singer-songwriter and actress Gloria Estefan has officially announced her biopic, confirming that the talented Rachel Zegler will portray her in the film.
The 68-year-old artist shared that this project has been in development for quite some time, but she believes they have found the ideal lead in the 24-year-old star of ‘Evita’, Rachel, according to reports from ‘Female First UK’.
In an interview with The Sun, she expressed, “I think she’s awesome, I think she’s incredible. I know she excelled in ‘Evita’. We are still finalizing the details for production, figuring out where and how to proceed. This has been ongoing for several years now. You work diligently, and then suddenly, boom, you have to act swiftly.”
She added, “But she’s lovely. I think she would accept the role. I just need to make her a formal offer. So we need to get the final greenlight, and we are very close. I met her via Zoom, and she possesses a beautiful singing voice along with exceptional acting talent.”
According to ‘Female First UK’, Gloria also expressed her eagerness to perform on Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage after her daughter, Emily, shared the stage with Cyndi Lauper last year.
She stated, “It’s very exciting; it’s big and complex from what I understand from Emily. It was wild! But that would be incredibly thrilling. If I’m still around, I’d love to take part. Glastonbury embraces all types of artists.”
Rachel gained fame for her debut role as María Vasquez in Steven Spielberg’s ‘West Side Story’, which earned her a Golden Globe Award. With Colombian and Polish roots, her big break came through a YouTube cover that led to her casting. Following her acclaimed debut, she appeared in ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’.
