Chennai, Aug 9 (NationPress) Renowned Malayalam actor Rahman, who has established his reputation in both the Malayalam and Tamil film sectors, has publicly expressed his support for actress Shwetha Menon, stating that he is appalled by the unfounded allegations being leveled against her.
In a heartfelt post on his Instagram, Rahman conveyed his sentiments regarding Shwetha Menon’s candidacy for the Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA), writing, "Dear Shwetha, I was profoundly taken aback upon learning of the baseless allegations directed at you. My heart is filled with outrage at this injustice. Having known you for nearly three decades, I can affirm that you are one of the kindest and most genuine individuals in our industry. Although we collaborated on only one film, the performances we participated in and the moments we shared were sufficient for me to appreciate your character and value our friendship."
Rahman, also known as the brother-in-law of music director A R Rahman, remarked, "During our time together at various shows, I witnessed your remarkable compassion for others—be it fellow actors, especially newcomers, crew members, organizers, or your fans. I still recall how you discreetly purchased medications for crew members who were unwell, without seeking any acknowledgment. You treated everyone with dignity, irrespective of their status. Those instances spoke volumes about your true nature."
The actor further commented on the troubling circumstances surrounding the actress.
He stated, "This current situation is nothing short of complete nonsense. Meher and I are appalled and disgusted by those orchestrating this malicious act. It is evident that this is a calculated effort to tarnish your reputation and hinder your election as the President of the Malayalam Artists’ Association. Such despicable tactics are commonplace in politics, but I never expected to witness them within our film community."
Rahman expressed regret for not reaching out sooner, explaining that he was unable to do so initially due to food poisoning and subsequently while mourning the loss of his dear friend, Shanavas.
"My message is directed to you, but I also wish the public to understand my stance. I know some media outlets may misinterpret my words, yet I genuinely do not care," he declared.
Encouraging the actress not to lose hope, Rahman concluded, "Shwetha, please don’t allow this to dampen your spirit. I recognize the tremendous effort you have invested to reach your current status—without any assistance, purely through your determination and strength. You are more resilient than this turmoil, and those who have sought to harm you will ultimately face the repercussions of their actions. I have no doubt that you will excel as the President of the Malayalam Artists’ Association, and I stand firmly by your side in support."
