Mumbai, July 1 (NationPress) Actor Rahul Sharma, portraying Anshuman in Star Plus’ show “Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai,” has candidly discussed the mental health challenges prevalent in the television industry.

Sharing his own experiences, he highlighted that maintaining emotional stability during professional dry spells is one of the most significant hurdles actors encounter today. Sharma noted, “People often focus on the hustle in acting. However, for me, it’s not the actual work that I cherish—it’s the uncertainty that presents the real challenge. At times, work is abundant, while other times, there are prolonged periods of inactivity. Navigating that unpredictability and maintaining a healthy mindset during those gaps is where the true struggle lies. And this uncertainty persists, even in the face of success.”

He further elaborated, “Even with substantial earnings, your responsibilities and expenses increase. You can never be completely certain when the next project will arrive or if it will surpass the last one creatively or monetarily. This industry is inherently complex and unstable, and one must come to terms with that ambiguity.”

Sharma also recognized that the television sector continually presents new challenges with each role. Though experience may ease the process, he believes each character still requires a unique emotional journey, demanding depth and sensitivity.

“You might think that accumulating time and experience makes it easier to tap into emotions. Yes, you begin to grasp your emotional process better. Yet, each role still introduces a new layer and perspective. The same feelings—such as loss, anger, or joy—can resonate entirely differently based on the character you embody.”

He added, “The emotional experience is never identical. Certain characters necessitate a deep dive, while others remain more superficial. Each portrayal is a fresh journey. Hence, I wouldn’t claim it ever becomes easy. Every time presents a new challenge.”

“Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai,” produced under Rajan Shahi’s Director’s Kut Production, features Rohit Purohit and Samridhii Shukla in leading roles.
