Key Takeaways
Chennai, March 13 (NationPress) Renowned Telugu star Rajendra Prasad has issued a sincere apology for remarks he made regarding former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M G Ramachandran, clarifying that his comments were made in haste.
In a now widely circulated video on social media, the esteemed actor delivered his apology in Tamil. He stated, "I am Rajendra Prasad, a Telugu actor. At an event here, I received an award named after the legendary actor Kanta Rao. While I was sharing some light-hearted remarks about the revered MGR, a mistake occurred in my speech."
Rajendra emphasized that the comment was unintended, expressing his deep respect for the former Chief Minister M G Ramachandran.
"Would I ever speak of him in such a manner? I wouldn’t dare to. During my time at the Madras Film Institute, he was our Chief Minister and would often visit to observe our training in acting. I have no authority to comment on him like that. If my words have offended anyone, I sincerely ask for your forgiveness. I promise to never express myself in that way again. Please consider this matter closed and forgive my error," he pleaded.
This apology follows calls from several Tamil film personalities, including South Indian Artistes' Association President Nasser and actor Vishal, urging him to apologize for his earlier comments made during an event in Hyderabad.
For context, during his speech, Rajendra Prasad had praised the contributions of veteran Telugu actor Kanta Rao. However, while doing so, he inadvertently made a remark that was deemed disrespectful towards the iconic Tamil actor and former Chief Minister M G Ramachandran, popularly known as MGR.
