Mumbai, March 17 (NationPress) In the midst of the controversy surrounding the recently launched song "Sarke Chunar" featuring Sanjay Dutt and Nora Fatehi from the film KD – The Devil, lyricist Rakeeb Alam has shared his perspective in an exclusive interview with IANS.

Rakeeb stated that he did not pen the lyrics for the track "Sarke Chunar".

He explained to IANS that he had already composed five songs for KD – The Devil. When asked to contribute to this particular track, he declined, informing director Prem that he would only craft lyrics that aligned with his sensibilities.

However, the director sought a direct translation of the Kannada song.

When Rakeeb refused, the director requested his assistance with the lyrics instead.

"An associate of the director collaborated with me to translate the Kannada song line by line," he mentioned.

Upon hearing about the significant backlash the song received, Rakeeb immediately contacted the director, urging him to remove the song from YouTube.

After its removal, the director asked Rakeeb to create new lyrics for the track, which he complied with.

He mentioned that the creators will soon unveil the new song alongside an apology note.

Rakeeb emphasized that he strives to write meaningful and clean lyrics.

He pointed out that sometimes, directors and producers pressure writers and singers to craft lyrics that will go viral on social media.

Following the backlash for its objectionable lyrics and suggestive choreography, the makers took down "Sarke Chunar" from YouTube.

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) issued a notice regarding the alleged usage of inappropriate and double-meaning lyrics in the song.

Additionally, social activist and advocate Vineet Jindal filed a complaint with the Delhi Police's cyber cell, demanding legal action against the creators of the track.
