Bollywood actor Randeep Hooda has opened up about the unconventional philosophy that has defined his 25-year career — a deliberate, repeated disruption of his own professional rhythm. Speaking during the promotional run for Season 2 of his hit OTT series 'Inspector Avinash', which has drawn strong audience response since its release, Hooda reflected on how instability became his most reliable creative tool.

The Rhythm Philosophy

Hooda draws a striking parallel between two of his most defining pursuits — acting and equestrian sport. An award-winning rider who has competed in national dressage, show jumping, and polo events, he notes that rhythm is foundational to both disciplines. In riding, it governs every gait — the canter, gallop, and trot. In acting, it manifests in controlled breathing and the cadence of dialogue delivery.

'I think rhythm is very important in everything and you're right, acting also has a rhythm and you have to find that rhythm, different characters demand a different rhythm. Not that I pay too much attention to it, but it does have to do with breathing. And so with riding, so with many other things,' Hooda said.

Disruption as a Career Strategy

Rather than seeking comfort in a settled professional identity, Hooda says he has repeatedly chosen to unsettle himself — and credits that restlessness with keeping him relevant. 'I think I have disrupted my own rhythm many, many times, that in itself, the disruption of rhythm has become the rhythm of my life,' he said. 'Out of 25 years that I have been an actor now professionally, that disruption has led to a sense of hunger and a sense of coming back to zero again and to come back again stronger.'

He added that this approach has been instrumental in attracting filmmakers who want to cast him in roles they have not previously associated with him — a recurring hallmark of a career that has ranged from intense crime dramas to biopics and action-driven OTT properties.

A New Chapter: Fatherhood and Slowing Down

Notably, Hooda signals a shift in mindset as he navigates new life experiences, including fatherhood. The actor, who has historically embraced high-risk creative and physical choices, says he now feels the pull toward stability. 'But now I feel like I should get into rhythm and not let that disrupt for some time and work a bit more. But yeah, there is a rhythm in everything,' he said.
