Mumbai, Jan 22 (NationPress) Bollywood icon Rani Mukerji has referred to her collaboration with Amitabh Bachchan in the acclaimed film Black as a pivotal moment in her career, labeling it a 'masterclass in acting'.

In a discussion with Karan Johar, Rani expressed how sharing the screen with Amitabh in Black was profoundly motivating.

“For any actor, collaborating with Mr. Bachchan is a defining career moment,” she remarked, adding that witnessing his portrayal of Debraj Sahai during their daily shoots felt akin to participating in an acting masterclass. She acknowledged that Bachchan’s commitment, alongside Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s creative vision, elevated the entire cast’s performance.

Reflecting on her memorable film, Rani described Black as one of the most spiritual and enchanting experiences of her career. She recounted the emotional moment when she and Amitabh viewed the final cut together, stating, “we embraced and both broke down,” having fully immersed themselves in their roles.

The actress praised director Sanjay Leela Bhansali for his visionary approach and meticulous attention to detail in crafting the film. She noted that Bhansali created such a rich and immersive environment that it inspired all actors to perform at their best every day. In her view, he possesses the rare talent to lead actors to emotional depths they might not even realize exist.

Discussing her personal growth, Rani revealed that she completed six months of sign-language instruction and engaged with individuals who are visually and hearing impaired, an experience that instilled in her a sense of empathy and gratitude, transforming her perspective on life.

Released in 2005 and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Black starred Amitabh Bachchan as Debraj Sahai and Rani Mukerji as Michelle McNally. The film, inspired by the life of Helen Keller, received widespread acclaim and is regarded as one of Rani Mukerji’s most powerful performances.
