Ranveer Brar on 'Yess Chef': Courage is acting despite fear, not its absence
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Celebrity chef and actor Ranveer Brar has opened up about his philosophy on resilience and facing life's challenges, sharing candid insights during the promotional run for his new streaming quiz show 'Yess Chef', which has already drawn strong early viewership response.
On Facing Life's Curveballs
Speaking at an event in the Andheri West area of Mumbai, Brar said the only way to navigate adversity is to move through it — not around it. 'It's not like life won't throw curveballs at you. It's not like it won't come at all. To wake up in the morning and say, ‘It's okay, it was yesterday, let's start again today’ — that's the only difference,' he said.
He emphasised that no one has a monopoly on hardship. 'To think that it happened to me, it hasn't happened to anyone else — that approach is useless. It happens to everyone,' he added.
His Favourite Quote on Courage
Brar cited a personal mantra that has guided him through difficult periods. 'My favourite quote is that courage is not the absence of fear, it is the ability to act in the presence of fear,' he said. 'What's happening to you, it's happening to everyone. The one who took the action, moves forward — that's it.'
He also acknowledged his own vulnerabilities without hesitation. 'I myself struggle, but the key is to never stop,' Brar said, adding, 'How bravely you wake up the next morning, or how bravely you take a shower at night — that's the only difference. If you cry to bed every night, then wake up happy every morning. That is all that matters.'
Earlier Advice on Food Safety and Fresh Produce
This is not the first time Brar has used his platform to champion everyday habits. He had earlier urged audiences to prioritise food safety at home, specifically advocating for shopping from local markets over quick-commerce apps. 'I believe that first of all, do your own shopping from local markets. That is very important if we talk about freshness. All of us have stopped going to the vegetable market. The 10-minute apps have changed the culture of shopping from vegetable markets,' he said.
He further noted that the sensory experience of shopping in person matters: 'When you see fresh vegetables on the whole cart, you understand the value of fresh food. Even if you get a small packet of cabbage, you don't enjoy it.'
