Mumbai, April 6 (NationPress) Actor and politician Ravi Kishan, with an impressive portfolio of 750 projects spanning 34 years in the entertainment industry, reflects on his evolution from the days of Doordarshan to the transformative impact of OTT platforms that rejuvenated his career, pulling him "back to life from darkness."

In an interview with IANS, Ravi shared, "When I embarked on my journey, Doordarshan was the only channel available, leaving strugglers with limited prospects. Today, there are approximately 1.5 million strugglers in Mumbai. With the emergence of new channels and serials, opportunities began to flourish."

The actor, born in Mumbai, highlighted the significant role of OTT platforms as a revitalizing force for talent like himself.

"So, what did OTT achieve? It resurrected actors like me, Manoj Bajpayee, and Pankaj Tripathi, among many others, from the shadows of obscurity. It revived my career," stated Ravi, who gained fame on the inaugural season of Bigg Boss with his iconic phrase, "Zindagi Jhandwa Fir Bhi Ghamandwa."

He remarked that many perceived him merely as a "Bhojpuri superstar" or a "parliamentarian."

"People wondered, 'Can this man really do Laapata Ladies? How can this police officer, sitting in a cramped room with a betel leaf, portray VD Tyagi in Maamla Legal Hai? Is this really Ravi Kishan?' Thanks to OTT, in that period of darkness, many had forgotten artists suffering in silence. Or perhaps they wished to forget them by covering them with a blanket," expressed Ravi, who has served as a Member of Parliament in Gorakhpur since 2019.

"I am one of those artists. This transformation I’ve experienced is remarkable," he added.

Ravi is thrilled about the upcoming release of the second season of Maamla Legal Hai, promising viewers an engaging binge-watch experience.

"You will absolutely enjoy it, especially since this is the first series that has made a comeback and is trending. I recall the popularity of Blacklist,” he noted.

"The magic of this show is its relevance. It revolves around India... A simple court case, involving lawyers. Every individual, whether a farmer or a city tycoon, engages with a lawyer in their life. The series delves into their personal lives as well."

"That’s the beauty of this series, showcasing real-life events. Recently in Bihar, a horse-riding smuggler was chased by the police over alcohol violations. He fled into the jungle, and the next day, news emerged that the horse was found at the police station."
