“Our collaboration with Pratilipi is based on a mutual understanding of the power of storytelling — to entertain, provoke thought, and mirror the multifaceted realities of India,” stated Roy Kapur.
“Through this partnership, Roy Kapur Films aims to harness a vibrant array of voices, languages, and experiences that often remain unheard. Our ambition is to create narratives that are deeply entrenched in local culture while also appealing to a global audience. In the rapidly evolving content landscape, this is our approach to connecting grassroots stories with a worldwide viewership.”
Roy Kapur emphasized that this initiative offers “a remarkable opportunity to discover and mold these voices into narratives that both entertain and resonate with audiences globally.”
The collaboration will entail jointly selecting stories from the Pratilipi platform, co-investing in their development, and collaboratively pitching and producing them for top-tier studios and streaming platforms. The objective is to co-produce a minimum of six films and series over the next three years, according to variety.com.
Pratilipi boasts a community of over 30 million monthly active users, 1.6 million writers, and an extensive library of stories across 12 Indian languages.
