Mumbai, April 16 (NationPress) Renowned actor and filmmaker Rajat Kapoor asserts that OTT platforms have significantly expanded creative horizons, with his upcoming project, 'Khauf', exemplifying this shift.

In a recent conversation with IANS, Rajat reflected on his initial skepticism towards the OTT industry and what prompted his change of heart regarding 'Khauf'.

Discussing the current landscape for independent films, he remarked, "For independent films, it's not a very favorable time because streaming platforms operate under specific strategies and algorithms that might not be the best approach for content creation, but that's their modus operandi."

Focusing on web series, Rajat noted, "Conversely, there have been numerous exceptional shows that explore themes previously overlooked in traditional media. 'Khauf' is a case in point—such innovative storytelling is rare, appearing perhaps once or twice annually, and it contributes to pushing creative boundaries. OTT platforms do play a role in this evolution. As an actor, I’ve participated in mainstream cinema as well, which doesn’t always appeal to me. However, when it comes to my roles, I prioritize the character's potential and depth."

Rajat elaborated on his character, stating that it is a role unlike any he has previously undertaken.

He shared, “This character is unlike anything I’ve portrayed before. When I received the call and reviewed the script, I felt a genuine thrill. It represented a significant shift for me—a true departure from my past work.”

Expressing his excitement over the script, he mentioned, “Before I met with (director) Pankaj and (creator) Smita, I eagerly read the material they provided. It was exhilarating; I felt a tingling sensation, which is rare for me. I was completely captivated and could not wait to delve into my role.”

'Khauf' is expected to debut on Prime Video on April 18.
