Mumbai, April 14 (NationPress) Actor-filmmaker Rajat Kapoor has continually challenged the limits of traditional cinema with his intense performances. As he embarks on the journey into the realm of “Khauf”, he expresses that it feels like a 'significant transition' for him.
Rajat elaborated on what attracted him to the forthcoming horror series Khauf and explained why this character stands out from any role he has played before.
Discussing his character in Khauf, he stated, “This character is completely different from anything I’ve portrayed in the past. From the moment I received the call and went through the material, I felt a genuine excitement. It marked a big shift for me—a true departure from my previous work.”
The actor found the script to be very captivating.
“Prior to my meeting with (director) Pankaj and (creator) Smita, I went through the material they provided, and it was exhilarating. I actually experienced a tingling sensation along my spine, which is rare for me. I was completely engaged and couldn't wait to dive into my role,” he noted.
“At times, a role may not meet your expectations, but in this case, it was the exact opposite. The filming experience, the costumes, the makeup—everything enhanced it immensely. This is one of the few projects I’ve been involved with that I’m genuinely eager about. I don’t often feel this excited about my work, but this one is uniquely thrilling,” he shared.
Marking Smita Singh’s debut as a creator and showrunner, Khauf is co-produced by Sanjay Routray and Sarita Patil under the Matchbox Shots label.
The eight-part series, directed by Pankaj Kumar and Surya Balakrishnan, includes performances by Monika, Rajat Kapoor, Abhishek Chauhan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, and Shilpa Shukla in significant roles.
The storyline follows Monika’s character Madhu, a young woman who moves into what appears to be a typical hostel room in a large city, seeking a new beginning. However, unsettling events unfold as the trailer reveals a malevolent presence lurking within the hostel’s walls. Amidst the supernatural occurrences, a shaman appears, vowing to eliminate the darkness.
Khauf is set to premiere on Prime Video on April 18.
