Its leading actress Monika Panwar shared insights about her character, revealing that the role has been a fascinating yet intense journey, providing her with a vast array of emotions and challenges to explore.
The eight-episode series includes performances by Monika, Rajat Kapoor, Abhishek Chauhan, Geetanjali Kulkarni, and Shilpa Shukla in pivotal roles.
The plot centers around Monika’s character Madhu, a young woman who moves into what appears to be a typical hostel room in a bustling city, seeking a new beginning.
Yet, as the trailer progresses, a disturbing aura emerges, highlighting a malevolent force lurking within the hostel’s confines. What was initially thought to be a sanctuary soon transforms into a realm steeped in terror, as the other women on her floor caution her to escape. Amidst the haunting occurrences, a shaman arrives, vowing to liberate her from the looming darkness.
The trailer suggests a relentless psychological and supernatural confrontation, where survival depends on uncovering the truth before it engulfs them all.
Reflecting on her role, Monika expressed, “Portraying Madhu has been both a captivating and intense experience, providing me with a broad spectrum of emotions and challenges to engage with. She is a character who gradually unravels as she confronts the unfathomable horrors that surround her, and capturing that fear has been both a challenging and rewarding journey.”
“Matchbox Shots has played a crucial role in molding the eerie world of Khauf, crafting an environment where performances can leave a lasting impression. The unsettling atmosphere, haunting visuals, and entire setting—everything in Khauf is designed to draw the audience into its disturbing universe,” she added.
Directed by Pankaj Kumar and Surya Balakrishnan, this supernatural horror series is produced by Matchbox Shots and written and created by Smita Singh.
This series promises to be more than just a suspense-filled horror drama, as the director assures.
“Directing Khauf has been an emotionally charged and creatively gratifying venture. This series transcends mere suspense horror drama—it’s a profound exploration of fear, trauma, and the unseen forces that shape our reality,” remarked Pankaj.

Bringing a vision to life necessitates a production team that comprehends and enhances your creative perspective, and Matchbox Shots has been an extraordinary collaborator in this process. I eagerly anticipate viewers experiencing the world of Khauf when it premieres this April.”
